Getting a Peek Behind the Scenes at Walt Disney World

Author: Leslie Clevenstine

If youve ever wondered what it takes to make Walt Disney World create its legendary magic, then a behind the scenes tour may be for you. Special tours of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom are available for guests who want to see and know more.

Here are some of the best:

Magic Kingdom

Keys to the Kingdom A 4-5 hour tour of the attractions behind the scenes tells the story of why and how the Disney parks were created. Age 16 & over. Lunch included.

Family Magic Tour Go on a scavenger hunt that the whole family will love. All ages welcome.

Steam Trains Tour Walt had a passion for steam trains, and you get to see where they are maintained and stored. Age 10 & over.

Epcot

Behind the Seeds Tour Take a walking tour of the Living With the Land attractions, with some special suprises. All ages welcome.

Gardens of the World Tour Learn all about the beautiful gardens found in the World Showcase from a horticulture expert. Age 16 & over.

Undiscovered Future World A behind the scenes tour that looks at the city of the future that Walt Disney envisioned. Age 16 & over.

Dolphins in Depth After a tour of the aquarium facility where the dolphins live and are cared for, guests get to get in the water and interact with a dolphin. The water is only waist deep, so scuba or swimming experience is not required. Age 13 & over.

Animal Kingdom

Wild By Design Learn all about the Animal Kingdom and what went into creating this one of a kind park. Age 14 & over.

Backstage Safari A behind the scenes look that includes a visit to the Animal Nutrition Center & Veterinary Hospital. Age 16 & over.

Before you book your behind the scenes tour, be sure to get all of the logistic details from Disney cast members. Many of the tours require considerable walking (arrangements can be made for many of the tours for guests with physical disabilities). Other tours prohibit the use of photographic or video equipment. And in some cases, a parental waiver is required for minors.

Tour groups are small, so advance reservations are highly recommended. Call 1-407-WDW-TOUR for pricing and reservations.
